N by Elastic Resonance Scattering in Inverse Kinematics
نویسندگان
چکیده
In some nuclei along the drip-line, for example the exotic nuclei Be, an energy level inversion between the 2s1⁄2 and 1p1⁄2 states occurs. Interest in the mirror state of Be on the proton rich side, N, resulted in a continuation of an earlier study searching for resonances in this nucleus. This experiment involved the resonance scattering reaction C + p in inverse kinematics performed at the NSCL at MSU. Preliminary analysis of the data shows evidence for three energy states above the C + p threshold with energies 1.3, 2.1, and 3.1 MeV. Using a potential-model analysis, these states can be interpreted as the ground and first two excited states of the N system.

Study of N by Elastic Resonance Scattering in Inverse Kinematics
In some nuclei along the drip-line, for example the exotic nuclei 11 Be, an energy level inversion between the 2s ½ and 1p ½ states occurs. متن کاملRelativistic mean field study of neutron rich even-even C and Be isotopes
Ground state properties of neutron rich even-even Be and C nuclei have been investigated using Relativistic Mean Field approach in co-ordinate space. The positions of the neutron drip line are correctly predicted for both the elements. The nucleus Be shows a two neutron halo but, contrary to expectation, C does not exhibit any halo structure. In carbon nuclei, N=16 comes out as a new magic numb...
متن کاملLow-lying levels in 15F and the shell model potential for drip-line nuclei
The ground and first excited states in 15F were studied in resonant elastic scattering using the thick sCH4d gas target method in inverse kinematics with a separated 14O beam. An analysis of the excitation functions of the elastic scattering was carried out with the potential model. The quantum numbers 1/2+ (ground state) and 5/2+ (first excited state) were assigned to the lowest two states in ...
متن کاملModern optical potentials and the role of nuclear structure
Abstract. Microscopic descriptions of exotic nuclei are the subject of much experimental and theoretical effort. Not only are such important in their own right but are also necessary for applications in nuclear astrophysics. Evaluations of model wave functions may be done with analyses of elastic and inelastic scattering from hydrogen. Those require a realistic model of nucleon-nucleus scatteri...
متن کاملFirst observation of 14 F
In an experiment conducted at the Cyclotron Institute at Texas A&M University in March-April 2009, the resonant elastic scattering of O+p was studied with the Thick Target Inverse Kinematics (TTIK) method [1] to observe states in F. F is expected to be unbound to proton decay (as are F). A rare beam of O with intensity of 5 x 10 pps was produced for the experiment in the H(N,O)2n reaction and w...
